Understanding Massage

Massage is the manipulation of soft tissue effecting a change in the surrounding tissue and structures. Our bodies and posture are held in balance by the muscular system. In order for you to stand still there are various muscles throughout the body constantly tightening and slackening to maintain the stillness that you desire. Massage is the practice of applying structured pressure, tension, motion, or vibration — manually or with mechanical aids — to the soft tissues of the body, including muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments, joints and lymphatic vessels, to achieve a beneficial response. A form of therapy, massage can be applied to parts of the body or successively to the whole body, to heal injury, relieve psychological stress, manage pain, and improve circulation. Where massage is used for its physical and psychological benefits, it may be termed "therapeutic massage therapy" or manipulative therapy.

Classical/Swedish Massage is a genre of bodywork that includes traditional Western massage, The classic Swedish massage incorporates long fluid strokes of varying depth and pressure to enhance the body's natural functioning. It improves muscle tone, circulation and joint flexibility

Sport Massage

Sports massage is the science and art of applying massage therapy and related techniques to ensure the health and wellbeing of the athlete and to enhance athletic performance. The major applications of sports massage therapy are recovery, remedial, rehabilitation, maintenance, and event (i.e., pre-, inter-, and post-event).

Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy uses essential oils from plants to heal, alleviate pain and regulate mood. Essential oils are a volatile, highly concentrated plant extracts, derived from leaves, bark, roots, seeds resins and flowers. Aromatherapy massage uses these essential oils, but they can also be used in hydrotherapy baths, facials and body treatments.

Shiatsu Massage

A massaging technique involving pressure applied along the energy meridians and acupressure points of the body in order to unblock and balance the body's energy and promote balance. This massage is done fully-clothed and done on floor mats.

Deep Tissue Massage

This massage is a more intensive form of classical massage that releases chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on contracted areas. Due to the release of toxins during this massage, you may feel some discomfort and should feel better 2 days after your appointment.

Foot Massage

Foot reflexology is "pressure therapy" and involves applying focused pressure to certain known reflex points located in the foot to cure or prevent disease. Foot reflexology is based on the premise that our nerve zones or reflex points go from the bottom of our feet to the top of our head, encompassing all vital organs on the way.  By using pressure on these points the therapist can help eliminate toxins, relax the entire body, and stimulate the healthy functioning of internal organs.

Anti-Cellulite Massage

Cellulite massage is a specialized massage concentrating mainly on the area where cellulite, or 'orange peel' skin is most prevalent on the body.
