What is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is the Art and Science of using essential aromatic plant oils in holistic treatments to improve health and prevent disease. The essential oils are extracted from certain varieties of trees, shrubs, herbs, grasses and flowers and are very concentrated. Each oil has its own unique healing properties and fragrance. Several oils are often used in combination to promote healing on different levels. The oils can be used in a variety of ways, massage, inhalation, baths, compress and skin preparations. Aromatherapy works by the absorption of minute quantities of the oils through the skin and also through inhalation of the aroma.
